Terms of service

Plain terms for a simple service: you fund a balance, you rent the inbox of a phone number, you read the code that arrives. Everything below follows from that.

1 Who these terms are between #

They are between you and the operator of simsms.com, which operates simsms.com and is referred to below as “we”, “us” or “SimSms”.

Using the site — creating an account, funding a balance, taking a number — means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must be acting for yourself or for an organisation you are authorised to bind.

2 What the service is #

We rent you access to the inbox of a real phone number on a real mobile network, for a limited time, so that you can receive a text message sent to it.

You are not buying a SIM card, a subscription, or a number of your own. The line belongs to the network throughout, and it returns to the pool when your order ends.

  • A one-time code covers a single activation on a single service and ends when the code arrives or the window closes.
  • A rental keeps the same number reachable for the term you bought — 7 / 14 / 30 days — and receives everything sent to it during that time.
  • Numbers receive SMS only. There is no voice capability, and no outbound sending of any kind.

3 Your account #

An account needs an email address and a password, and nothing else. We do not ask for a name, a document, a phone number of your own, or a card.

You are responsible for keeping your password and any API key confidential, and for everything done through your account. If you believe someone else has access, change your password from Settings — doing so ends every other session immediately.

One person or organisation may hold more than one account. Accounts may not be sold, shared or transferred.

4 Balance and payment #

The service is prepaid. You fund a balance in cryptocurrency and spend it on numbers. Prices are quoted and balances held in US dollars.

The minimum top-up is $20.00. We add no fee of our own; what you pay above the amount shown is the network fee charged by your own wallet, which never reaches us.

A balance is credit for buying numbers. It is not a deposit, it does not earn interest, it cannot be withdrawn or transferred to another account, and it does not expire.

5 What you are charged for #

For a one-time code, you are charged when a code arrives — not when you take the number. The price is held against your balance while the number is active and released in full if nothing arrives before the window closes.

For a rental, you are charged for the term when you take it, whether or not anything is sent to the number during that term.

Prices are read from the live catalogue and change with supply. The price checked against your balance at the moment you order is the price you pay.

6 What we do not promise #

We cannot promise that any particular service will accept any particular number. Services maintain their own rules about virtual numbers and change them without notice; that is outside our control and outside this agreement.

We cannot promise that a message sent to a number will arrive. Delivery depends on the sender, on intermediate carriers and on the destination network. What we do promise is that you are not charged when nothing arrives.

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you spent with us in the three months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

7 Suspension and closing an account #

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the acceptable use policy, that is used to defraud, or that we are required to act on by law.

You may stop using the service at any time. To close an account, ask through live chat. Spend your balance first: it is not withdrawable, and closing an account does not convert it back to a coin.

8 Changes to these terms #

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.

Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting the revised terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and ask in the live chat to close your account.

9 Law and disputes #

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator is established, and any dispute that cannot be settled through support is subject to the courts of that place.

Before anything formal, raise the issue through live chat. Almost everything that looks like a dispute is a question about an order, and both sides do better settling it in the thread than anywhere else.

The other documents

The four are meant to be read together: the terms set the agreement, the others say what happens to your data, your money and your account.
